The Benefits of Buying Certified Used Cars

If you’re in the market for a new vehicle but want to avoid the high cost of brand new cars, used vehicles offer a compelling alternative. However, finding a reliable used car can be a challenge. That’s where LA City Cars Certified Pre-Owned (CPO) program comes to the rescue.

This program gives used car shoppers peace of mind by subjecting vehicles to thorough inspections by trained mechanics. Buyers can be confident that these cars have many miles left in them.

Amidst the overwhelming options in the automotive market, selecting the right vehicle can be a daunting task. But what sets Chevrolet apart?

No matter which Chevrolet model you choose, you’re assured of a product crafted by one of the finest companies and most skilled workers. With a legacy of producing high-quality cars, trucks, and SUVs, buying a used Silverado, Equinox, Cruze, or any other Chevy model guarantees a vehicle that will stand the test of time. Currently, three Chevy models stand out as customer favorites: the Silverado, Equinox, and Camaro.

Chevy’s Silverado is renowned for its ability to tackle demanding tasks while providing a comfortable interior for hardworking drivers and passengers. The 1500, in particular, is a popular light-duty model, but the Silverado lineup also includes heavy-duty options with the 2500 and 3500.

Since its debut in 1958, the Impala has consistently provided a roomy interior at an affordable price. The current generation continues this trend, offering a sizable trunk, comfortable seats, and a smooth ride. These are the characteristics that have defined Chevrolet’s full-size family sedan. The car performs adequately and handles its size well, driving much like the smaller Chevrolet Malibu. While the spacious interior is comfortable, it’s starting to show its age. However, the Impala’s attractive exterior design, user-friendly infotainment system, and ample cargo space keep it competitive.

What’s New in 2019?

For 2019, there’s only one thing new for the Impala – its discontinuation. General Motors has announced that both the Impala and the Buick LaCrosse will cease production after the 2019 model year.

Trim Choices

The Impala stands out as a value option among its competitors, with a starting price lower than all others in its class. For this reason, we recommend the top-spec Premier trim, which adds a wealth of standard features, bringing it close to the level of a luxury vehicle. These features include perforated leather seats with heating for the front seats, 19-inch wheels, chrome exterior mirror housings, and rear parking sensors.

Engine and Performance

The Impala offers two engine options to power its front-wheel-drive setup. The base engine is a 197-horsepower 2.5-liter four-cylinder, while the optional one is a 305-horsepower 3.6-liter V-6. Both engines come with a six-speed automatic transmission. The V-6 is the better choice, providing smooth and powerful performance for city driving, highway merging, and passing. The Impala isn’t the fastest in its category, but it holds its own among other six-cylinder rivals.

On the road, the Impala delivers a comfortable and quiet ride, smoothly handling bumps. While the steering is accurate, it lacks some tactile feedback. Nevertheless, the Impala isn’t trying to be a sports sedan; it handles most driving situations with grace and doesn’t feel as large as it may appear.

Fuel Economy

The V-6 engine’s EPA ratings are slightly lower than some competitors, but real-world testing shows different results. Our test vehicle with the V-6 matched a Nissan Maxima on a 200-mile highway route, achieving 32 mpg, and outperformed a four-cylinder LT model, which managed only 28 mpg.

Interior, Infotainment, and Cargo

The Impala’s roomy interior makes it an excellent choice for families. However, interior materials vary from luxurious to somewhat cheap, and the cabin could use a design update. Soft-touch materials cover most key touch points, but some areas reveal cost-cutting measures. The Premier trim’s faux-wood trim doesn’t look upscale. The white leather seats in our test vehicle, though, exude luxury and provide comfort for long drives.

The MyLink infotainment system is user-friendly and responsive, with standard features like Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and a 4G LTE Wi-Fi hotspot. Three USB ports are available, and navigation with real-time traffic and weather updates is optional.

Cargo space is where the Impala excels. In our tests, it accommodated seven carry-on boxes with the rear seats in use and 19 with the seats folded down.

Safety and Driver-Assistance Features

While the Impala earned satisfactory safety scores, it’s not a leader in this regard. Driver-assistance features are limited and optional, including automated emergency braking with forward-collision warning, lane-departure warning, and adaptive cruise control.

Malibu

In terms of safety, the Malibu offers a range of standard and optional technologies to keep you and your passengers safe. These features include:

Automated Emergency Braking with Pedestrian Detection: This system can detect potential collisions with vehicles or pedestrians and automatically apply the brakes if necessary.

Lane-Departure Warning with Lane-Keeping Assist: This feature monitors the car’s position within its lane and alerts the driver if it detects unintended drifting. It can even make subtle steering adjustments to keep the vehicle centered.

Adaptive Cruise Control: This feature adjusts the car’s speed to maintain a safe following distance from the vehicle in front, improving both comfort and safety.

Blindspot Monitoring with Rear Cross-Traffic Alert: These systems provide warnings if a vehicle is in your blind spot or if a vehicle is approaching from the side while you’re reversing, making lane changes and backing up safer.

Forward Collision Warning: This feature offers visual and audible alerts if it detects a potential collision with a vehicle or object in front, allowing the driver to take appropriate action.

The Malibu sedan has also earned high safety ratings from respected organizations such as the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) and the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS). For instance, the 2023 Malibu received an impressive 5-star rating from the NHTSA and scored highly with the IIHS.

The Financial Advantages of Buying Used

Purchasing a used car or truck can be a wise financial decision. Used vehicles often cost significantly less than their new counterparts, resulting in savings both upfront and in terms of financing. Here’s why buying used makes financial sense:

Depreciation: New cars lose value rapidly, while used cars have already absorbed much of this depreciation, saving you money.

Insurance: As a used car’s value decreases, insurance premiums become more affordable, allowing for greater flexibility in coverage options.

Repair Costs: The cost of maintaining a used vehicle is typically lower than for new cars.

When it comes to buying a used vehicle, Chevrolet is an excellent choice. Their commitment to quality, longevity, and affordability ensures that you’ll get a reliable, cost-effective ride.

In conclusion, Chevrolet combines a century of experience with a range of award-winning vehicles, making it a smart choice for anyone in search of quality, reliability, and savings. Whether you’re considering a certified used Chevy or a brand-new model, Chevrolet’s dedication to excellence and innovation shines through. So, hit the road with confidence in a Chevrolet, knowing you’re driving a piece of American automotive history.
